Il Centro è funzionalmente organizzato attraverso quattro articolazioni specifiche, il Reparto di Oncoematologia (Pediatria Est), Il Centro Trapianto di Midollo Osseo "Monica e Luca Folonari", il Day Hospital di Oncoematologia, e il Laboratorio di Cellule Staminali.
The "Spedali Civili" of Brescia is a comprehensive hospital with all major specializations.
Among them the “Ospedale dei Bambini” or Children’s Hospital is one of the most independent with it’s own administration and many subspecialties. It offers in- and outpatient health care for all paediatric age groups ranging from (premature) birth through adulthood.
The Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Unit is the National Centre of reference for the European Group for Bone Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). Together with the Hospitals in Monza and Pavia it forms the backbone for the Italian Association of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology (AIEOP) in Lombardy, one of the most important and successful organizations fighting childhood cancer worldwide.
Il Reparto e il Day Hospital di Oncoematologia
Nell’ambito del Presidio Ospedale dei Bambini dell'Azienda Socio Sanitaria Territoriale degli Spedali Civili di Brescia opera ormai da vent’anni una struttura diagnostico-assistenziale dedicata ai bambini affetti da tumori e leucemie.
Il reparto di Oncoematologia Pediatrica è Centro Regionale di Riferimento, assieme a Pavia e Monza, per l’Associazione Italiana di Ematologia ed Oncologia Pediatrica (AIEOP).
Ogni anno i nuovi casi di leucemie e tumori afferenti al Centro sono 50.
Il Reparto dispone di 20 posti letto in regime ordinario (di cui 9 di Terapia Intensiva); dal momento che il 70% dei bambini guariscono per sempre, ma devono seguire controlli programmati, sono disponibili in reparto altri 5 letti per il Day Hospital.
Il reparto è collocato al 2° piano del Corpo centrale dell’Ospedale nel settore Est.
Ogni anno vengono effettuate 10.000 prestazioni ambulatoriali e vengono effettuati 1700 ricoveri in regime di Day Hospital. Presso il Day Hospital opera anche l'Ambulatorio per la Diagnosi e la Cura delle Neutropenie in età pediatrica che si svolge il martedì mattina dalle ore 9.00 alle ore 12.30 previo appuntamento telefonico al n.030 399.6288 (tutti i giorni dalle ore 11 alle ore 12). At the Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Unit we also have one of the largest Bone Marrow Transplantation programs for children with Severe Combined Immunodeficiencies (SCID) in Europe: Since 1990 at the Stem Cell Transplant Centre "Monica e Luca Folonari" more than 350 transplantations have been carried out in children from all over the country and many other parts of the world.
Children with any form of cancer benefit from dedicated treatment plans set up within the AIEOP network.

Haemo-Lymphoproliferative Disorders (Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukaemia, Acute Non Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas);
Solid Tumours (Neuroblastoma, Wilms' Tumour, Ewing's Sarcoma, Rhabdoid and Non-Rhabdoid Soft Tissue Sarcomas, Central Nervous System Tumours, Liver Tumours);
Haematologic Diseases (Anaemia and Thalassemia, Thrombocytopenia, Bone Marrow
Aplasia, Haemophilias, Haemoglobinopathies);
Severe primary immunodeficiencies.
IL CENTRO TRAPIANTO DI MIDOLLO OSSEO "Monica e Luca Folonari"
L'Unità è Centro di Riferimento nazionale per il trattamento mediante trapianto di celllule staminali di bambini affetti da immunodeficienze primitive nell'ambito dell'European Bone Marrow Transplantation Group (EBMT) e Centro di Riferimento regionale per l'Associazione Italiana di Ematologia ed Oncologia Pediatrica per il trattamento mediante trapianto di cellule staminali di bambini affetti da tumori e leucemie. Presso il Centro, che opera dal 1990, sono stati realizzati più di 400 trapianti di cellule staminali. Il Centro dispone di 6 letti a flusso laminare sterile.
